To engage youth and strengthen the healthcare workforce in India, 360 ONE Foundation has committed grant capital to the SAMRIDH Healthcare Blended Finance Facility, supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by IPE Global. The partnership aims to address critical healthcare workforce gaps while creating employment opportunities for young people from low-income communities.
The collaboration uses SAMRIDH’s blended finance approach to mobilise additional capital through a risk guarantee mechanism, creating greater leverage from the initial grant funding. The programme also incorporates an outcomes-based mechanism to incentivise successful placement and retention of beneficiaries who complete the training.
In its first year, the programme aims to establish skill centres that will train and provide employment opportunities to youth for healthcare roles including phlebotomists, dietary assistants, and telehealth service coordinators. The initiative is designed to strengthen the healthcare workforce while improving access to employment opportunities for young people from underserved communities.
Over its three-year period, the programme aims to train between 5,000 and 6,000 youth, significantly increasing the number of beneficiaries reached through the additional capital mobilised through blended finance. The trained beneficiaries will be placed in healthcare roles, supporting both financial inclusion and the development of a stronger and more skilled healthcare workforce.
